Gaining Customers with Referrals and Affiliates

One of the primary ways that a daily deal website can increase revenue is by growing its subscriber base.  One of the proven ways to do this is through the use of referrals and offering affiliate commissions or site rewards…

However, is this right for your business?

We live in a very connected world.  Facebook just hit 1 Billion users, Pinterest is growing like Wildfire, and there are many other social avenues where like-minded folks hang out.  It is very easy for us to click a few buttons and share something with our entire network of friends on Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.  Incentivizing your subscribers to share your deals and website will make sharing that much sweeter.

When you give your subscribers and audience a reason to share, the likelihood they will share your site increases dramatically.

You could offer them commissions, rewards, or credits to your website just by spreading your brand.

The caveat here is that your profit margins are already being cut into because businesses are offering a steep discount on their products or services as well as giving a cut to the your deal site.  If you do end up offering commissions to your audience for sharing your site – the revenue will probably need to come from your cut.

Incentivizing the act of sharing can do absolutely huge things and help you dramatically grow your userbase…
