According to a recent Bloomberg article, Daily Deal websites could see anywhere from $80 Million – $100 Million in Holiday sales.
The daily deal industry has been exploding over the past year and this holiday season should be a momentous time for the industry as a whole.
Instead of the usual sweaters or gadgets, more of us might be unwrapping deals for spa services, getaways, or restaurants.
That is the prediction from deal aggregator Yipit, which is estimating that U.S. consumers will spend between $80 million and $100 million on online coupon sales this holiday season as shoppers go online in greater numbers to shop for gifts,Bloomberg reports.
Groupon announced earlier this week that it expanded its holiday shopping site, called Grouponicus, to more than 40 cities, up from 20 last year. Among its offers will be a $50 gift certificate at American Apparel for only $25. Another key site, Tippr, will be offering deals on movie tickets, and the second biggest site, LivingSocial, plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from some deals to a charity between December 5 and December 16—continuing a tradition from the past two years.
I have personally purchased a few Christmas presents from Daily Deal sites and will probably purchase a few more before it is all said and done.
These recent reports are big for daily deal website owners, and it is NOT too late to get involved and start your own daily deal website using the Daily Deal Builder deal software platform.
Make sure you are prepared for the end of the year!
Make moves today,
Marc Horne
