No matter what type of business you are running, these 4 tips will help you land more sales and revenue for your business. Enjoy and Happy Selling.
1. Update Your Order Forms
The first area to update in order to pull more sales online is your actual order forms. Your order forms are one of the most important aspects to increasing sales. I recommend tracking the rate at which someone visits your order forms versus how many actually proceed with the order. If the “bail out” rate is high, something is wrong and should be done.
A few options to consider…
Add video to your order pages: Often times a video directly on your order form can increase trust and help reiterate why the potential customer is about to order. Actual video with a member of your company can do wonders.
Trust Seals: Many folks are still hesitant to order items online due to trust issues. Trust and Privacy Seals have been proven to increase order conversion rates.
Guarantee: If you offer a guarantee on your products or services, we recommend re-iterating your guarantee right on your order form.
“Would you like to add this to your order…?” Asking customers if they would like to add additional, complementary products or services to their order can increase revenue. Have you ever ordered a domain name from Godaddy and noticed their sales funnel?
“Tell your friends and get X% off”: You could offer credits or incentives for users in exchange for them sharing your offer with a friend.
Add an exit pop to your order forms to capture names and email addresses so that you can follow up with potential buyers.
2. Offer Complementary Upsells
One of the easiest ways to increase your online revenue is by offering upsells before or after your customers’ initial order. The important factor to consider is that the Upsell should be complementary with your front-end product.
Not sure what types of upsells make sense? Try finding a related product or service on Amazon. When you view the product, you will notice the section that shows what people also purchased. These are great ideas for upsells that actually make sense.
1-click Upsells: Many shopping carts give you the ability to offer one click upsells. We’ve found that one click upsells increase revenue well because all that a customer needs to do is click a single button and the additional product or service is added to their order.
3. Update Your Thank You Pages or Members Area
Immediately after a customer orders they are typically directed to a thank you page or a members area. This page is a superb place to not only get folks excited about the purchase they just made, but also increase revenue.
You can offer upsells or affiliate products directly on your thank you pages. Again, be sure that they are complementary to your initial offering.
Add user generated calls to action: “Tell your friends about this purchase and receive XX credits.”
4. Turn Buyers into Repeat Buyers
Customer acquisition costs are high. Turning a customer into a repeat customer is much better and more cost effective option than having to find brand new customers.
Although it does cost money and security is a high priority issue, saving customer credit card info will yield more repeat sales. Anytime I login to Amazon, I can choose to order and it’s always nice not having to add card information.
Add an automatic follow up series so that after someone orders they receive a well crafted series of follow-up communications. These follow-ups are a great way to turn customers into repeat customers. Be sure to have a customer follow up series as well as a prospect follow up series.
Thank your customers: One of the best ways to turn customers into repeat customers is by showing appreciation for them. Thank them with a post card or phone call and show them that doing business with you is a pleasure. You’ll be amazed at the loyalty you create by something as simple as telling customers “thanks for your business.”
You can also offer your existing customers affiliate products.
Take a look at the above 4 items in your sales funnel, remember to focus on benefits over features, and I’m pretty positive you will see higher sales numbers.
